10 August 2020 : Scam Alert – Announcement to Members

10 August 2020

Dear Valued Member,

***SPECIAL NOTICE - SCAM ALERT****

We are writing to once again raise awareness about the sinister activities of property and timeshare resale scams. Sadly we need to remind you again as several schemes continue to be aggressively promoted in Jakarta right now, during this difficult time.

The good news is that victims are fighting back. Recent legal action has resulted in refunds and cancelled contracts. Growing numbers of consumers are reporting scammers to government agencies such as the Ministry of Trade and the Police.

Thank you to all Members who have called us and taken action. This helps protect fellow Members and other consumers falling prey to these international scam operations.

If you suspect you have been targeted call your Member Services Team. Do not attend any meeting or sign anything. This simple call could save you much financial and legal pain. We can explain what other victims of the scams have experienced and the actions taken.

The process starts with an approach at a Jakarta shopping mall, an email or a phone/WA call. They may try to say your contact details came from sources such as the PHRI (Hotel and Restaurants Association Indonesia) or even that they are affiliated with Accor or Accor Vacation Club. Neither is true!

They will ask you to attend a meeting in a Jakarta office where they use fake news and aggressive tactics to promote an over-priced ‘product’ of a company that is usually from Europe or the United Kingdom. After a presentation their sales agent will offer an inflated ‘trade-in’ or ‘resale’ discount for your Accor Vacation Club Membership. Do not sign anything. There is no cooling off period and there is never a ‘trade-in’ or ‘resale’.

Please stay alert and report any incidents or concerns to your Members Service Team;

23 June 2020 : Scam Alert -Announcement to Members

23 June 2020

Dear Valued Members,

***SCAM ALERT****

As the COVID-19 pandemic impacts our daily lives we have seen an increase in the number of scam operators preying on fear and uncertainty. Getting taken advantage of should not be a concern during a time of crisis.

Accor Vacation Cub is committed to doing everything we can to protect our members.

These scam callers prey on unsuspecting members with fake advertising of group meetings, prizes and vouchers to promote ‘products’ of dubious value and ‘discounts  (including by offering an unsubstantiated resale of your valuable membership).

Accor Vacation Club has never been paid for or even received a transfer application from one of these so called ‘timeshare re-sale’ sellers.

They rarely, if ever, deliver on their promises because they cannot provide a legitimate product or ongoing service. If you engage with these scams they can potentially cost you significant amounts in upfront fees.

We urge you to stay alert and immediately report any such communications to your dedicated Members Service Team on:

Saturday-Sunday: 9.00am-3.30pm
